The exponential spread of the Coronavirus led to everyone being placed on a worldwide Time Out! Hear God's call for us to "STOP!" through this poetic and prophetic word.
Well, the Lord did it again. This poem started coming to me early one morning, waking me right out of my sleep. May we all awaken....
A poetic admonition in light of the exponential spread of the Coronavirus. 4-2-2020

This poem was originally written about Domestic Violence, but I adjusted it to deal with gun violence. This presentation took place in Washington, DC during Rev. Dr. William Barber's Moral Revolution of Values revival service.
The title, "Violins or Violence?" cautions us against becoming so numb to hearing about violence that we tune it out as just another sad song with violins replicating the sound of human wailing. Are our ears and hearts attuned?
The poem is included in “Poetic & Prophetic."

Yours truly and my children were blessed to be extras in "Nocturnal Agony," a film based on a true story that explores a number of sensitive issues, including mental health.
This segment was filmed in our sanctuary. In the foreground are actors Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs and Vernee' Watts.
I'm in the background with another actor in the film.
Filming took place in 2011, when churches were barely discussing subjects like mental health. The Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church not only acknowledges such issues, we are proud to host MBI Services, a mental health organization, at our church.
